The Owner - Captain Grant Stuart

We are a small, family-owned and operated business focused on providing unrivaled customer service. While catching fish is never a guarantee, we guarantee a clean boat, competent captain/crew and a good time, every time. Captain Grant got his start on boats at very young age, fishing and diving all around the Gulf of Mexico. He first came to Kauai in 2006 working for many years as a scuba dive instructor. From there, he went on to travel the world teaching scuba, becoming familiar with waters all over the globe. Grant met his wife in Denver, CO, where they both grew up, and not long after they decided to make the move back to Kauai. Since returning, Grant’s focus has been on sport fishing and growing his skills as a captain/fisherman. Grant is excited to be starting this business from the hull up and sharing his passion with everyone who steps foot aboard our vessel.

The Vessel - Willin’

Willin’ is new to us as of summer 2023! Willin’ is a 31’ Bertram Fly Bridge Cruiser that has been completely rebuilt. This boat is known as one of the best strike boats around the globe. You will see 31’ Bertrams fishing all around the world, particularly in areas with potential for rough conditions. Though not the largest sport fishing boat, she’s known for getting you out to the grounds and home safely, not to mention she’s beautiful.

The Crew

All of our crew members are skilled and knowledgeable in deep see fishing off the coast of Kauai. Most of our crew members are also licensed captains, providing additional backup and support aboard Old School. Both crew and captain are fully trained in CPR and First Aide. In addition to hiring skilled crew we take great pride in hiring people who will uphold the high standard of care and customer service that should be expected aboard our vessel. We want your time with us to be exceptionally great and we hope that Blue Water Fishing Kauai is your go-to for deep sea fishing.

Old School (Retired)

Old School was our first fishing vessel, a 1970, 31’ Bertram, rebuilt over 2 years here on Kauai. We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into Old School and she will always have a place in our hearts. She remains here on Kauai but is living her next adventure with her new owners.
